Notice of Transparency:
U.S. manufactured N95 masks are nearly impossible to source currently due in part to the Defense Production Act, and many are still restricted to government use only. The only N95 style masks that we are able to acquire at this time are KN95 masks, which are made in China & India.
These masks do however meet the guidelines set forth by NIOSH and the CDC during this crisis response. If N95/KN95 masks are unavailable, a Surgical Mask may be worn as an alternative. Homemade and cotton face masks are still NOT RECOMMENDED under WHO guidelines.
KN95 vs. N95
According to the CDC, NIOSH, and the manufacturer 3M, the only difference between N95, KN95 and FFP2 masks are their place of origin. The KN95 masks are made in India and China, and FFP2 masks are made in Australia.
All (legitimate, not knockoff and made of cotton or other non-blown material) N95, KN95, and FFP2 face masks are respiratory protective devices designed to achieve a very close facial fit and very efficient filtration of airborne particles. The 'N95' designation means that when subjected to careful testing, the respirator blocks at least 95 percent of very small (0.3 micron) test particles.
What is the difference between KN95 and N95?
These KN95 masks are rated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a suitable replacement for the now-scarce U.S. manufactured N95 face mask. Like the N95 masks, they block up to 95% of particles .2 microns and larger, drastically reducing respiratory risk.
Are KN95 masks approved by the FDA?
The KN95 is temporarily approved by the FDA for use in similar settings as the better-known N95 mask but is manufactured and available in much greater quantities.
Are KN95 masks safe to use?
We are taking great precautions to only source from reliable partners. There is a lot of fraud going on right now, and we are ensuring that all of our products have proper certificates to enter the U.S. in compliance with FDA & CDC guidance.
Why are U.S. made N95 masks so hard to come by?
Due to the Defense Production Act (DPA) enacted by the Trump Administration on April 2, 2020, over 90% of all U.S. made N95 masks are only allowed to be sold directly to the U.S. government and/or to hospital systems directly. This is why the CDC, NIOSH, and FDA have amended the guidelines to state that KN95 and FFP2 masks are nearly as effective.
Sold individually. Non-sterile.
